FORMER MUSIC PROJECTS:
THE CURIOUS SHAPE OF HENS
The musical brains of The Curious Shape of Hens birth from the branches of American folk music – mostly jazz, with occasional nods to Southern hymns and ballads. They twist free improvisation through and between their tunes with voice, upright bass, tenor horn, alto sax, cello and percussion. With: Emma Alabaster, Erin Bell, Cassandra Burrows, Emily McCabe and Laura Vuksinich. The Hens went to roost in 2012.
VEVERITSE BRASS BAND
A ten piece brass band playing original and contemporary tunes from the Roma of southern Serbia: soaring melodies, drama and dance tunes, with a twist of the idiosyncratic and underdog, rooted in Jazz.
WHY ARE WE BUILDING SUCH A BIG SHIP?
“An unwieldy, shifting assemblage of horns, strings, percussion and voices,
one minute graced with wistful melancholy, tempered with cautious optimism the next, they’re one of the most curious and original bands in America.” -Gabe Soria
